Information concerning the area around Þórsmörk (Thorsmörk ) and Fimmvörðuháls.

Current conditions allow us to run all our tours in the area of Emstrur, Þórsmörk and over Fimmvörðuháls. However we want to inform participants of the following:

Due to the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull in the spring of 2010, volcanic ashes of thickness on average from 1 to 3 cm (0, 4 to 1, 25 inch) have spread out over the hiking paths from Emstrur to Þórsmörk and over Fimmvörðuháls. This ash is slowly disappearing with wind and rain. On dry and windy days this volcanic ash can however blow in to dust clouds. We therefore recommend that our clients carry sunglasses and the guide will carry simple dust masks for those who want. This affects some parts of the path from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk from noon on day 3 of the hike onwards and sections of the crossing of the Fimmvörðuháls mountain pass.
