Icelandic Mountain Guides - Winter Highlights

In fall and winter, Icelandic Mountain Guides and Iceland Rovers offer a variety of multi day winter adventures. Depending on the type of adventure you are looking for, we offer different types of tours. Our discovery tours like Kingdom of Volcanoes will mostly stay closer to the coast and in the lowlands and the same goes for the Treasure Trail, however that one takes you for one night into Þórsmörk glacier valley for a little highland experience. Both tours will let you see a different side of Iceland only visible outside the summer season. In fall the colors of autumn and migrating birds set their mark on the surroundings and as winter comes along, these tours can turn into real winter adventure with snow and ice dominating the landscape and the aurora borealis dancing in the sky!

If a highland winter adventure is what you are looking for, our super jeep tours will take you into Iceland’s mountainous interior, a region not easily accessible once winter has set in. If you don‘t have much time but are still looking for a winter adventure in the highlands our Landmannalaugar Adventure and Golden Circle winter weekend is the perfect choice. There you will stay one night in a mountain hut in Landmannalaugar next to a natural warm river just enough time to get a feel of the atmosphere in the highlands in winter.
