Iceland - Mountain Climbing
Short breaks are memorable and exciting when you choose a day tour from Icelandic Mountain Guides. With our variety of day tours, you can even combine a city break and an outdoor adventure in the same weekend. Whether you choose an easy hike close to the capital in Reykjavik, a combination of horseback riding and a glacier walking tour or a little more adventurous exploration of the Sólheimajökull glacier, with all the necessary equipment or climbing the highest summit Hvannadalshnúkur (2110M) we will guide you there.
Day tours around and from Reykjavík
With hiking in mind for your weekend break, our Hot Spring Hike goes through one of the more spectacular geothermal zones in Iceland, the Hengill area, and is just 30 minutes drive from the city centre of Reykjavik. If you are interested in something more adventurous, check out our Glacier tours. The fourth largest glacier (Mýrdalsjökull), covering one of the most active volcanoes in Iceland, is only a couple of hours drive away. There we'll take you on an exciting journey through the wonderful labyrinth of ice sculptures. Want something even more challenging? Sign up for an Ice-climbing tour.
Day tours around Skaftafell National Park
During high season, from beginning of April to middle of September each year, we have a base camp in Skaftafell in the Vatnajökull National Park. The country's highest peak, Hvannadalshnúkur, rises majestically to 2110M (6920 feet)in the background. The Park's camping site is the point of departure for our multiple day tours as well as for other climbing and hiking activities. Participants staying at Hotel Skaftafell and other accommodations in the vicinity can be picked up on their request.
