Walk Through Ice and Fire - June 2010

Good morning,
All too often, letters and e-mails are written and sent to voice one displeasure with goods and services. This is certainly not the case. I had the great fortune to book the Fire and Ice Tour on April 1, 2010 which was scheduled for Thursday, June 24, 2010. My tour guide, Atli, picked me up as prescribed and we headed off to see the Hengill Geothermal area. Since we were scheduled to pick up three others for the afternoon portion, the morning was just Atli and I. Atli was so well versed in the area and he conveyed that wisdom upon me. The 2 1/2 hours seemed to fly by.

Then, came the afternoonportion - the walk on the glacier Myrdalsjokull. Needless to say that after looking at what lay ahead, I was a bit apprehensive. Atli was able to teach us the correct way to put on crampons, walk up and down the glacier, and use the ice axe. Yes, we were all somewhat timid at first, but Atli's knowledge and patience made this experience one that I will never forget.

Thnak you for two things: offering this chance to do things which most people will never have the pleasure and privilege in doing and second, having a man such as Atli to take people to enjoy the beauty and magnificence in Iceland. He is a true professional and one who is personable and extremely knowledgeable.

Thank you again for the experience and rest assured, I will definitely promote Mountain Guides to all.

Best regards,
Arthur Zucker
