Duration: 6 ½ hours on ice. Total duration 7 hours.

Minimum Age: 16 years

Pick up: Please arrive 15 minutes before your departure at our log cabin by the Skaftafell National Park Visitors Center.

We provide: Guiding, glacier gear and safety equipment

A full day hike on the ice field of Svínafellsjökull, part of the Vatnajökull Glacier in Skaftafell National Park.

This is a moderate to challenging glacier tour in the majestic surroundings of Svínafellsjökull, that is hemmed in by some of Iceland´s most spectacular peaks. We climb the Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue up to the deep glacier valley between the summits of Hvannadalshnúkur and Hrútsfjall, traversing zones of different glacial formations. This magical icescape consists of wonderful ice sculptures, huge cauldrons, deep crevasses and strangely shaped ridges and other ice formations awaiting our discovery. An experienced glacier guide makes sure that your trip into this magical world will be safe. Definitely a must for ice enthusiasts.

Hello,
I was in your wild country some weeks ago. On 20 July we did the Blue Ice Experience from the base camp in Skaftafell, and it was marvelous. We had a great time, laughed so much (maybe a little too much) and had great guides to show us around.
