Iceland’s most recent lava

This is a tour that takes you up on Fimmvörðuháls pass right to Iceland most recent lava. This is where the Eyjafjallajökull eruption started, and is a real hot spot of exciting geological features along with spectacular nature all around. The trail takes us up from Skógar, along Skógá river and its many waterfalls up between the two glaciers, Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, to the recently formed lava and the new craters, Magni and Móði. Here the fresh lava is still steaming and under the surface and the heat of the lava can still be felt. From this location we can also enjoy a magnificent view of the Þórsmörk glacier valley and the glacier tongues descending from Mýrdalsjökull. On the way back down to the low lands we can enjoy a view over the black sand beaches and the south coast . All in the safe company of our expert guides.
