The goal of the course is to evolve from climbing on a top-rope to leading easy routes on ice with uttermost security standards. In detail view of ice protection, main anchors and methods to retreat/rappel of routes. Climbing will preferably be on frozen waterfalls. Not for beginners.

Objectives:
The goal is to evolve as an ice climber from climbing with on a top-rope to leading easy ice routes. We will go thoroughly through the use of ice protection, main anchors and methods rappelling of routes. The climbing in this course will preferably be on frozen waterfalls.
Evening: Refresher in knot-use from Ice Climbing I for Beginners and how to put up main anchors for multi pitch purpose. Look at the difference of dynamic and static anchors. A short slide-show from some of the main ice climbing-areas in Iceland during the first evening.
Full Day Session: Top-rope climbing. Putting up main anchors and V-threads. Rappelling with a safety-knot. Leading ice under the surveillance of an instructor.
Note: Prior Experience: It is mandatory to have done Ice Climbing for Beginners (or a similar course). Please consider a rock climbing course or a winter mountaineering course if you have no experience what so ever.
