Rakel Ósk Snorradóttir

Rakel lives in Akureyri, sometimes referred to as the Wild North, but her family hails from a farm in the remote town of Skagafjörður. Up until this past year, she has been guiding part-time but we are excited to have her as a full-time member of the team.

She likes to spend her free time Telemark Skiing, ice climbing in between turns during the winter, and a lot of mountain biking and hiking in the summer. She is also an avid coffee drinker. Being a guide has been a good way to combine her hobbies with work.

Her professional qualifications/experience include:

  • Wilderness First Responder
  • Hard Ice Guide
  • Rescue Team
  • Hnúksguide
  • Vice Leader over one of the Rescue Team in the capital
  • area (Hjálparsveit skáta í Garðabæ)
  • Nurse student
  • Being an awesome person

Her favorite places in Iceland are Kverkfjöll, Þórsmörk, Austurdalur in Skagafjörður and the Troll Peninsula in general.
