Roger Martorell

Roger

Roger hails from Pyrenees, northern Catalonia. Growing up in a little town with the mountains as his playground made him feel very comfortable hiking, climbing, and playing around in nature. As he grew up, he realized he could use his familiarity with the greater outdoors to make a living. He came to Iceland in 2000 to work for a Spanish hiking agency and fell in love with the light of the country. He made friends with some of the locals and they introduced him to IMG. Before working as a guide, he has held different jobs around the world such as being a cook, tree planter, ski instructor and carpenter. Outside of work he delights in the simple joys of life by spending time with his girlfriend, child, and friends. His favorite places in world are Stórurð and Dyrfjöll in the east fjords of Iceland and the Pyrenees, especially since you can rock climb, ice climb, ski and swim all in the same day.

His professional qualifications/experience includes:

  • Wilderness First Responder
  • Hard Ice Guide
  • Rescue Team
  • Fully certified IFMGA guide
