Aðalbjörg was born and raised in Ísafjörður, but moved to Reykjavík when she was 20 years old to go to University. She lived in Guatemala for one year when she was 17 years old and is fluent in Spanish.
She has always loved the outdoors and used to work as a hut warden on the Laugavegur hiking track for three summers. She was tired of working in an office job as a mechanical engineer and was envious when she saw constant Facebook updates from her peers in the SAR that were working as glacier guides. That motivated her to take action and she applied for a job at IMG. This is her first season with the company and she started guiding in June.
Her work experience is quite broad and some of it includes working as a courier at the age of 14 for a fish factory in the Westfjords, being a registered nurse, an engineer, and working in a pharmacy. Her favorite work experience was working for an Icelandic prosthetic company teaching people in Namibia and Angola how to make prosthetic legs.
Aside from doing outdoorsy activities with her mates on the search and rescue team, she loves travelling, reading a good book, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her favorite place is the Westfjords, especially around midnight in calm weather during the summer.
