Erla Guðný

Erla has lived most of her life in Garðabær, Iceland but just moved back from doing a semester abroad in Innsbruck, Austria. She always enjoyed the outdoors as a child and spent most of her summers hiking, skiing, or biking with family and friends. Her immense amount of respect for nature combined with her love for showing people this beautiful island that she is lucky to call home, are what motivated her to become a guide. This is her second season guiding glaciers but her first time with Icelandic Mountain Guides.

Over the years she has worked in a hotel, café, restaurant and lager for Icelandic Mountain Guides. Outside of work, she hikes, rock climbs, backpacks, bikes, skis as much as possible in the winter, and spends time outside with good people. When not working, you can find Erla studying geology and traveling around Iceland and abroad. Iceland’s beauty always manages to surprise her and she is still discovering new places. One of her favorite places is Tröllaskagi, where she can ski tour in the mountains. She has dreams of exploring Patagonia and the Himalayas.

Her professional qualifications/experience includes:

  • Wilderness First Responder
  • Hard Ice Guide
  • Rescue Team
  • First Aid Courses

Á útlendinga gala.
Jöklar og sólskin alla daga
og aldrei gædað á tóman maga.
