Hike some of the beautiful trails in Skaftafell or go on a guided glacier walk with Icelandic Mountainguides.  From the NP drive across the Skeiðarársandur wasteland heading for the village of Vik with its black sand coastline, amazing rock formations protruding from the sea, Dyrhólaey promontory and the basalt column cliffs.  Not to mention the huge puffin colony in the cliffs next to the village.  Then head towards Skogar hamlet (Woods), lying under the picturesque Eyjafjöll mountains on top of which lies the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier.  Accommodation near Skogar.
