Filippo comes to us from the Italian Alps, on the border with France and Switzerland and grew up in a really beautiful village called La Salle, close to the Mont Blanc. He has lived in Paris as an exchange student for one year, and Torino, where he got a bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Mountains have been his passion for as long as he can remember, his father is an experienced mountaineer who knows almost every local peak by name, and his Venezuelan mother used to carry him and his siblings around mountains all summer long for several years.
Filippo became a guide because he wanted to share his passion for the nature, because he would like to instill in everybody the understanding and the respect for our planet and its wilderness; he just loves to be outside, breathing the wilderness every day, and he came in Iceland in winter 2016, following his Icelandic girlfriend to the darkness of the north. He started working for Icelandic Mountain Guides in the early summer of 2017. Previously he has worked as an assistant chef in an Italian restaurant, a waiter, as a guide in a Adventure Park in Aosta Valley and a Kayak instructor for Kayak Polo.
Outside of work he likes playing music, guitar mostly, playing team sports, all kinds, he loves carpentry and brewing beer.. and drinking it! His professional qualifications include Glacier Skills level 1.
His favourite places in Iceland are the Westfjords, a completely wild part of the world. But his favourite place in the world still is the Mont Blanc area and his personal goal is to come back to where he grew up as a better mountaineer, climbing the Mont Blanc through a challenging ascent and, why not, opening a new one!
