Haraldur Ketill Guðjónsson
Haraldur was born in Ísafjörður, a town in the northwest region of Iceland known as the Westfords, but he was raised in the Reykjavík area. His appreciation for the outdoors and his want to spend more time out in nature are what motivated him to become a guide. He became a member of the Icelandic Mountain Guides team during the summer of 2016. Before becoming a guide, he mostly worked in construction in the Reykjavík area.
Haraldur likes all kinds of outdoor activities, such as cross country skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and camping in the wild. He is especially fond of photography and has spent a lot of time doing that in the last few years. He was a part of the Icelandic Search and Rescue team and has a degree in Geology, and is Glacier Skills Two qualified. He finds that his degree is very helpful when it comes to explaining features on the ice and knowing where to find them. His favorite place in Iceland is Hornstrandir in the Westfjords. It is the most northern and most remote place of the peninsula.
