Ívar has a place in Icelandic Mountaineering history, having done multiple first assents, mostly on water-ice. He's been the lead guide for all glacier and mountaineering operations of the Icelandic Mountain Guides (IMG) for years and knows IMG‘s operation in and out. He distributes his time between the office and guiding outdoors on small and big projects.
Ívar was one of Iceland’s most active mountaineers and ice climbers for years. Apart from managing IMG‘s operations, Ívar guides shorter expeditions, like the Vatnajökull Crossing Expedition, ski-touring and climbing trips. He's also been guiding some challenging objectives IMG has undertaken abroad, such as Mont Blanc, Elbrus and Mt. Vinson. His current passions are with mountain biking and ski-touring, although he can occasionally be seen climbing waterfalls.
