Ólöf Sesselja was born and raised in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. From the day she started walking she was out the door exploring, making her parents worried sick. Throughout the years you might have seen her climbing in trees, running on rooftops and even sitting on top of street lights.
Ólöf's second home growing up was in the gymnastic hall but since then she has been mixing sports with outdoor activity and completely fell in love with the concept. She had been coaching gymnastics for some years and wanted to find a way to do something similar outside so the next obvious step was to become an adventure sports guide, to be able to show people the unique corners of Iceland in the most safe and non-polluting way as possible.
She started the journey going through the Adventure Sport Program at Keilir / Thompson River University (Iceland) in 2016-17 and started working for Icelandic mountain guides the following summer. Now, she splits her time between working as a glacier guide during the day and a barista during the night.
When not working, you can find Ólöf kayaking, climbing, travelling, singing and trying out all kinds of sports. Ólöf embraces new challenges and seeks adventures. Her favourite places in Iceland at the moment are Stykkishólmur and Húsafell in Borgafjörður.
