Exclusive Private Golden Circle Tour – Explore Iceland Your Way

Your day begins with a convenient pickup in Reykjavík, where you meet your private guide and set off in comfort toward the world-famous Golden Circle. Along the way, your guide shares local knowledge, stories, and insights that bring Iceland’s landscapes and history to life.

The first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of exceptional geological and historical significance. Here, you can walk between the drifting tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia while exploring dramatic rift valleys and fissures. Þingvellir is also the birthplace of Iceland’s parliament, where assemblies were held in the open air over a thousand years ago.

Next, you continue to the geothermal area of Haukadalur, home to the famous geysers. While the Great Geysir is mostly dormant today, Strokkur reliably erupts every few minutes, sending steaming water high into the air. Surrounding hot springs, bubbling mud pools, and steaming vents create a vivid and otherworldly atmosphere.

After a break, the journey continues to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful and breathtaking waterfalls. Here, glacial water thunders down two dramatic tiers into a deep canyon, creating a constant mist and ever-changing rainbows on sunny days. Multiple viewpoints allow you to experience the scale and force of this natural wonder up close.

Depending on conditions and preferences, the tour can continue off the main route in a Super Jeep, venturing toward the rugged Highlands near Langjökull glacier. This optional extension offers a more adventurous perspective on Iceland’s wild interior, with dramatic views and remote stops along the way.

On the return journey, you may also visit either Faxi waterfall, a peaceful and lesser-known cascade, or Kerið volcanic crater lake, known for its striking red slopes and vivid blue water.

The day concludes with your return to Reykjavík, leaving you with a deeper connection to Iceland’s geology, history, and raw natural beauty.

Private Golden Circle Tour

Þingvellir

First stop

As one of Iceland’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Þingvellir National Park offers a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. A dramatic rift valley marks the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, giving visitors the rare opportunity to walk and even snorkel or dive between two continents. Located just a short drive from Reykjavík, the park is often the first stop along the iconic Golden Circle route.

Geysir

Second Stop

One of the standout natural highlights along the Golden Circle, the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley showcases Iceland’s raw volcanic energy in action. Here, the earth comes alive through erupting geysers, bubbling hot springs, and steaming streams that cut through the landscape. It’s a powerful and ever-changing environment that leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.

Gullfoss

Third stop

Set within the dramatic landscapes of southwest Iceland, Gullfoss is a striking display of the country’s raw natural power and beauty. Known as the “Golden Falls,” this iconic waterfall is one of Iceland’s most celebrated sights. Fed by the Hvítá river, the water plunges into a rugged canyon in two stages, creating a powerful cascade often surrounded by mist and shimmering rainbows. It’s a captivating scene that highlights the dynamic forces shaping Iceland’s landscape.

Reykjavík

Fourth stop

As the world’s northernmost capital, Reykjavík has a character all its own, shaped by a vibrant arts scene and a strong sense of creativity. While many travelers quickly head out to explore Iceland’s dramatic natural landscapes, the city itself is well worth your time. From engaging museums and lively food halls to local breweries and distinctive landmarks, Reykjavík offers a rich and rewarding urban experience.
