The star of the show is, of course, the steaming new lava fields of Geldingadalir. But that's not all.

Being located on a drift zone between the continents of the North American and the Eurasian plates, the Reykjanes Peninsula beholds some of the most interesting geological wonders in Iceland. We start our day by enjoying views over Lake Kleifarvatn where windblown palagonite and petrified troll formations catch the eye. A short drive from Lake Kleifarvatn lies Seltún, with its boiling mud pools and colourful steaming landscapes. As we drive along the Reykjanes peninsula you can't escape the views of the roaring Atlantic Ocean, endless lava fields, and volcano craters.

Next, we hike up to Fagradals Volcano, the hike takes about 40 minutes each way and we take our time to fully experience the power, the heat, and the incredible view.

In the afternoon we make our way to Gunnuhver, Iceland's largest mud pool. A stop by the coastline of Reykjanesviti lighthouse is a must before we visit the bridge between continents on our way back to the city.
