This extended tour takes you deeper into the Hengill geothermal area and the historic Jósepsdalur valley, where black lava fields, mountain ridges and wide-open terrain create the perfect setting for off-road exploration.

You’ll ride across the lava fields of Svínahraun, pass beneath the striking volcano Vífilsfell and take in panoramic views toward Hengill and the surrounding highlands. The Experience

Your tour begins at Litla Kaffistofan, where you’ll meet your guide, receive a safety briefing and get equipped with helmet and protective overalls. From there, you’ll head straight into the rugged terrain, leaving the city behind within minutes.

The route takes you across wide lava fields, into the Jósepsdalur valley and through landscapes shaped by volcanic activity and geothermal forces. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the area’s geology, energy production and local folklore.
