Volcanic trails and geothermal water in one afternoon
This combination tour pairs a guided ATV ride close to Reykjavík with time to relax at Reykjaböð, a geothermal spa at the entrance to Reykjadalur valley in Hveragerði.
The ATV ride
You leave BSÍ Bus Terminal at 13:00 (optional pick-up from 12:30) for the 25-minute drive to Litla Kaffistofan. Your guide gives a safety briefing and hands out overalls, helmets and balaclavas before you set off at 13:30 on a 1.5-hour ride along trails through lava fields and black sand. Hengill is an active volcanic system on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and on the way you pass the Hellisheiði plateau and the steaming Hveradalir geothermal valley.
Reykjaböð Hot Springs
At 15:30 you transfer to Reykjaböð. Classic Admission gives you around two hours in the geothermal pools and the outdoor ritual area, with an event sauna, cold plunge and Kneipp pool. Food isn't included, but you can buy snacks at Litla Kaffistofan, and Reykjaböð has a bistro and an in-water bar.
Back to Reykjavík
The return transfer leaves Reykjaböð at 18:30, so you are back in the city in the early evening.
