Scenic ATV Quad Bike Tour From Reykjavík

After the driver guide whisks you out of Reykjavík, you will travel along a road with beautiful waterfalls, ocean views, mountains and glaciers. After arriving at the Myrdalsjokull base camp, the guide will provide you with the appropriate gear and a safety briefing. While on the quad bikes, you cross small rivers before heading to the magnificent black sand beach and field formed from the nearby Katla volcano.

On the drive along the black beach, you’ll enjoy views of the ocean, up Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and of Dyrhólaey, a small peninsula in the southernmost part of Iceland. After riding along the coast, we stop by the famous plane wreck at Sólheimasandur. This relic has been resting on the sand since 1973.

As you head back to the Base Camp, your guide will lead the group along the Jökulsá River to the foot of the mountain. On the return ride to Reykjavík, we stop at the stunning waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. A perfect end to this adventure-filled day.

Please note: All drivers must be 17 years of age or older and have a full, valid driver's license. According to Icelandic law, a learner´s permit, tractor, or motorcycle license is not sufficient.

Single riders and groups with odd numbers are required to book a single-ride ATV

Scenic & Fun ATV Adventure from Reykjavík

Day tour

Pick-up from your accommodation in Reykjavík marks the start of your adventure. After a scenic journey along Iceland’s South Coast, you’ll arrive at the Mýrdalsjökull base camp, where your guide provides gear and a thorough safety briefing.

Then it’s time to set off on an exhilarating ATV ride across vast black sand beaches, with a highlight stop at the famous Sólheimasandur plane wreck. After the ride, you’ll return to base camp before continuing your journey back towards Reykjavík. On the way, you’ll have the chance to visit two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls: Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

Practical Information

How long in advance do I need to book?

We always recommend booking as soon as you are ready, especially if you have a strict travel schedule or a large group. It is easy to change or cancel 24 hours before departure by emailing us info (at) mountainguides.is. Tours can also be purchased on the day of the activity if any spots are available.

What if my hotel is not listed in the PU selection?

When does the pick up start?

The pick ups starts 30 min before your tour's departure time. Please be ready at your bus stop in time.
