This epic South Coast tour starts with a pickup in Reykjavík and follows one of Iceland’s most scenic routes. This sightseeing journey is completely carbon-neutral!

Our bus will bring you to the Mýrdalsjökull base camp at the foot of the glacier, where you'll gear up and switch to a buggy. After a brief safety introduction (no prior buggy experience required), we set out across rugged volcanic sand and river plains below Mýrdalsjökull. Feel the thrill of the buggy as you cross the open terrain, with the sky’s changing colours reflected in the winding river. On clear days the ice cap stands out above the dark sand; when the clouds are low, it can be hidden from view.

You’ll cruise along the expansive beach, stopping at the famous DC-3 plane wreck, where you can look up towards Mýrdalsjökull and along the black coastline to the sea arch at Dyrhólaey.

After the buggy adventure, you'll rejoin the bus and continue your journey, stopping to marvel at another of Iceland’s iconic waterfalls before returning to Reykjavík.

Iconic Waterfall Stops: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss

On this tour, you’ll visit two of Iceland’s most celebrated waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.

Seljalandsfoss: Fed by the Seljalandsá river from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, this unique waterfall allows you to walk behind its cascade. If you’re up for the experience, bring a raincoat or waterproof jacket to stay dry while you immerse yourself in its beauty.
Skógafoss: A picturesque masterpiece, Skógafoss is the starting point of the famous Fimmvörðuháls trail to Þórsmörk. Known for its appearance in Thor: The Dark World, this breathtaking waterfall is a South Coast highlight.

Single riders and groups with odd numbers are required to pay a single rider fee to drive a buggy solo. The single rider fee is paid on site and is subject to availability. The driver needs a valid driver's license.

Every buggy has a protective roll cage and seatbelts, which many families and older travellers find reassuring. Children aged 6 and over can join as passengers.

Good to know: The buggy route crosses the sand plains below Mýrdalsjökull and does not go onto the glacier. Whether the ice cap is visible depends on the weather on the day.
