Today, we head further east to take in the vast open sand plains and the mighty Vatnajökull ice cap in the distance. Vast alpine peaks perforate the background as we admire the wonders of the Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón), complete with huge icebergs and sunbathing seals. A short walk away we stroll along the Diamond Beach, named after its countless stranded Icebergs. In the afternoon we will go on an exciting glacier walk on one of Vatnajökull's glacier tongues. Once on the ice field, it will feel as if we have been transported to a frozen foreign planet and we will witness stunning scenery as far as the eye can see. After the glacier walk, we will have some tome to explore Skaftafell National Park. You will also see the beautiful waterfall Svartifoss, which is surrounded by basalt columns, before heading back to our hotel.
