Snowmobile Tour on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier

This tour gives you the opportunity to go up to the top of a glacier. The Mýrdalsjökull glacier is Iceland's fourth largest glacier, covering the Katla volcano. To get up to the roots of the glacier, we will take you up the mountain in a real glacier truck (about 1 hour each way).

Once there, we'll get on our snowmobiles and ride up the ice cap. From there, we can enjoy the glacier landscapes and scenery over south Iceland. Everything needed for the tour is provided, and our expert guides will teach you how to handle the snowmobile to enjoy this adventure in a fun but safe way. The duration of the tour is suitable for first-time riders.


Please note:  All drivers must be 17 years of age or older and have a full, valid driver's license. According to Icelandic law, a learner´s permit, tractor, or motorcycle license is not sufficient. Single riders and groups with odd numbers must book a single-ride snowmobile.

Day tour

Scenic and Fun Snowmobile tour on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier

The meeting point for this tour is at our Mýrdalsjökull Base on Road 222. There you will get a short briefing about the tour and be fitted with all the equipment needed (warm cover-all, balaclava face mask, helmet). Next, you will board the glacier truck that will take you up the mountain (about 30 min) to the ice field where we find the snowmobiles. There your guide will explain to you how the snowmobile works and how to ride it in a safe and fun way. After about 1 hour of snowmobiling, we go down with the glacier truck (about 30 min) to the Base, where the tour ends.
